Grant Writing Workshop for Computers and Technology
About this Workshop:
This is a 3 day special workshop designed for advanced level fire, rescue, EMS and Emergency Management grant writing personnel who will be applying to the 2010 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. This workshop is not for beginners and does not teach basic grant writing skills as our other workshops do, it is specifically targeted at this one grant program. As such, you must have written and been awarded at least two (2) prior Fire Act Grant awards in order to be eligible to attend.
The goal of this workshop is to provide an environment where the attendees will actually write and develop their 2010 AFG application during this workshop. This will allow you to focus on your grant for three full days without the normal distractions associated with trying to accomplish this task while in your normal work environment. Laptop computers are needed to participate fully. This workshop is designed to be a “think tank” for prior successful Fire Act grant writers and to have an opportunity to network with your peers from across the country. You will develop and write your 2010 AFG application narrative during this workshop. You will have your narratives scored and critiqued by two separate review panels comprised of your fellow classmates and have an opportunity to adjust your narrative according to their suggestions prior to leaving this workshop. You will receive written critiques from two separate review panels during the course of the workshop which you can use in further refinement and development of an "A-Game" grant application. If available the 2010 AFG Program Guidance will be dissected by the class for content and detail. This techniques was used successfully last year and attended by more than 40 of the country's top AFG grant writers. Those attendees have already shown remarkable success and at this point in time ( 1/4/2010 ) they already have a better than 75% success rate with those attendees who have already received preliminary notice that they will be awarded.
